5th/6th Grade

  Lisa Ballard, 5th-6th Grade Teacher

I am very excited to be teaching 5th and 6th grade this year at Hamilton!  Some of you may have seen me around the school last year when I was substitute teaching.  I am still relatively new to this area, so I will share a bit about myself.

I grew up in Colwich, a small town northwest of Wichita.  I went to college at Newman University in Wichita.  I lived in Hampton,  Virginia for five years; there I taught Kindergarten and a 1st and 2nd Grade combination classroom.  Then, I returned to Colwich, Kansas to help care for some ill family members and my aging mother.  I lived in Colwich and taught at the local elementary school, the school I also attended as a child.  After my mom passed away I moved to Ottawa, Kansas. I lived and taught in Ottawa for three years. I taught Kindergarten and was the director of an after school program while in Ottawa.  During my time in Ottawa, I was introduced to Roy Ballard of Madison, and we were married in October of 2013.  Between the two of us we have seven children ranging in age from 21 to 30 years old.  I have three boys and Roy has three girls and a boy.  Two of my boys are married and two of Roy’s girls are married.  We have three grandchildren nine months old to 2 years old and one due in November.

I am so very happy to be teaching in Hamilton and I have met many wonderful people!  I look forward to continue to getting to know the students and the Hamilton community!

Fifth Grade Students Attend the Shrine Circus

On Friday, February 13, the 5th Graders traveled to Wichita for a field trip.  They all wore their beautiful, purple Shrine Circus t-shirts that were purchased for them by the local Shriners along with the tickets to attend the Shrine Circus at Hartman Arena.  Some of their favorite acts were the tigers, elephants, areal acts,  and the motorcycle, bicycle, and dirt bike stunts.  They ended the trip with some ice cream to make an almost perfect day!  Thank you  Shriners!
